Working Notes
What we have
worked out
so far.
Practical marketing notes for small businesses, written from client work rather than theory.
Working Notes is where I write down what I have learned running marketing for small businesses across Essex. It comes from real client work: what we tried, what held up and what turned out to be a waste of a month. There is no theory for the sake of it and no recycled advice from a template.
Most notes start with a question a client has asked, or a problem I keep seeing on a Google Business Profile, a website or a social account. So far they cover how to choose social media platforms and how local SEO works for Essex businesses. Paid advertising, email, reporting and budgeting are the likely next topics.
Each note is short enough to read in one sitting and practical enough to act on the same week. Pick the topic that is bothering you most, read that one note and change one thing. Small, consistent changes beat a big rebuild that never gets finished.
If you would rather have someone do the work for you, A2 Project covers social media, email, paid advertising and SEO for small businesses, and the services page shows how plans and pricing work. If you are still deciding what to spend, the free marketing budget calculator gives you a sensible starting range.
Local SEO in Essex: how to get found
Local results come down to relevance, distance and prominence. Here is what I would check first on your Google Business Profile, service pages, location pages and reviews.

Most business accounts give nobody a reason to follow them. Start with why anyone would, then group platforms into content you can realistically produce every week.
